Unilever asked kubik to devise an inspirational way to celebrate the coming together of various marketing departments in their new Marketing Headquarters. It was clear that a move this big called for a big celebration – so giant lifelike replicas of Unilever items up to 24 metres (78.8 feet) high were built and floated on the waterways in front of the new Headquarters. An Axe Deodorant bottle, Igloo Fish Sticks box, and Garde D’Or Sauce and Becel drink containers floated in the water to catch the attention of passersby. At the event, each employee wore a colour representing his or her particular marketing division. As the days’ festivities progressed, the colours symbolically became fully intermeshed as a symbol of the new unity. Result: The opening made headlines with both national and local media. All of the guests and employees experienced first hand the symbolic linking of the departments.
